China increased oil imports from Russia by 1.3% in 2024%

China increased purchases of Russian oil by 1.3% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

Imports amounted to almost 108.5 million tons of fuel. Beijing bought $62.42 billion worth of oil from Moscow. Russia ranks first among suppliers of this type of fuel to China.

Saudi Arabia is in second place. Beijing's purchases of oil from Riyadh in 2024 decreased by 8.5% to 78.63 million tons. Malaysia ranks third with shipments of 70.32 million tons.

In addition, Russia increased the volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplied to China by 3.3%. In 2024, the figure reached 8.3 million tons. At the same time, the cost of imports decreased to $4.99 billion. Moscow ranks third among LNG sellers for Beijing.

Australia is in the first place with a volume of 26.19 million tons. The top three LNG suppliers include Qatar, which sold 18.34 million tons of gas to China.
